Local jewelry, fashion businesses combine forces for promotions - Los Altos Town Crier

Downtown Los Altos businesses have joined forces to help one another as public health restrictions, though eased, continue to limit customer visits.

Personal and fashion stylist Abby Young has orchestrated recent collaborations among several downtown businesses. The latest, held April 9, involved Alys Grace clothing boutique on Main Street; Los Altos models Lisa Pattisson and Leigh-Taylor Sigfusson, owner of Bespoke Gifting Studio; Lara Geronimo, local makeup and hair artist; and hair stylist Macey Morgan of Pursuit Salon in Los Altos.

“The models started out by getting their hair and makeup done at Pursuit Salon by Macey and Lara,” Young said. “Then they met Lisa Whalen and me at Alys Grace, where I styled them in three complete head-to-toe looks from Alys Grace – tops, jackets, dresses, jeans, shoes and jewelry.”

The models participated in a photo shoot, using downtown locales as backdrops, including the brick wall on Third Street and Plaza S, the side of Enchanté Boutique Hotel, the Los Altos main library and the sidewalk outside Casa Lupe. The participating businesses then posted the images on Instagram, giving each social media exposure.

Young’s first downtown collaboration, which occurred in early February, brought long-running jewelry store Smythe & Cross and new Los Altos-based jeweler Ji Hwang together. Khatchig Jingirian of Smythe & Cross is currently featuring pieces from Hwang’s industrial jewelry collection that reflect the designer’s life journey as she has navigated living in urban, industrial and rural settings. Young brought in local fashion photographer Ángel Ramírez and makeup artist Sonam from Makeup Elegant by Sonam to showcase some of Hwang’s pieces.

The second collaboration involved local fashion and lifestyle photographer Lisa Whalen and local clothing store Alys Grace. Whalen photographed women in Alys Grace attire around town, promoting her photography and Alys Grace merchandise in the process.

The collaborations also have benefited Young, who started her own personal styling business downtown last June.

“I think it is really important to emphasize the business collaborations we have going on – that we are holding strong during these difficult times,” Young said.
