NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) -The North Platte High School environmental club is cleaning up our local parks. The group worked with Keep North Platte and Lincoln County Beautiful on Sunday to make Iron House Park cleaner for its many users. Many of the club’s members have personal reasons why they chose to join the club.

“I joined to help out the community and get outdoors and have fun,” said Environmental Club Member Matthew Woodward.

“I joined because it is something I have never done before and I thought I would try it,” said Environmental Club Member Kaden Gilbert.

“I joined the club just so I can help out. We have the cardboard recycling at the school and I enjoyed doing that,” said Environmental Club Member Taylor Sutherland.

The North Platte High Environmental Club works on encouraging others to preserve our parks for future generations. The group plans on hosting events and working on doing more for the community and North Platte High school.

“I can show the kids that it is a good thing to do to give back to the community, plus it shows stewardship,” said Karen Malmkar Sponsor for Environmental Club.
