Local bowling leagues are bouncing back - The Morning Sun

soworos.blogspot.com

Our local league structure is much the same as last season, with the lone exception being Wednesday nights.

Two smaller leagues, Riverwood Rollers (Six, four-women teams) and the Wednesday Men’s Money, (Six, four-men teams) decided to combine into one larger, stronger league called Wednesday Mixed!

You’ll need a four-person team, (any combination of women or men) to bowl Wednesday nights in the future.

The result so far looks similar (12, four-person teams), however, the larger the league, the more stable the league!

Mondays went this same direction about three seasons ago and from a dwindling six-team men’s league emerged an 11-team, four-per team league called, appropriately, Monday Mixed!

(In fact, a separate, non-sanctioned house league also exists during the same time frame and may eventually merge to form a 22-team league!

Tuesdays have been fairly stable the last few years with the AJ’s Tax Trio Draft league, also a mixed league. Last season they reached 16 teams for the first time (after starting with 14 teams). This season the league started with 16 teams! The unique league format has three separate 10-week sessions where bowlers can easily join so I’m hoping to get to 18 teams this season!

Thursday was the strongest night until COVID and now looks to regain that “distinction.”

Two separate leagues, (High Rollers Women’s league and the 989 Men’s ‘A’ league), only fielded 13 teams last season but are at 20 teams this season!

And then the Saturday Youth and Saturday Bumper leagues seem to be maintaining this season. The only USBC-certified league yet to start is the High School Prep youth league, which meets twice a week, (Monday and Wednesday), right after school, for six weeks starting Monday, Oct. 4.

The league is mainly to prepare high school bowlers for their tryouts in mid-November.

Sign-ups look encouraging…
