Montclair Communications, owner of WZVN, is working to reach a new agreement with DISH Network so DISH can continue to provide ABC7 to its subscribers. Montclair is legally required to advise viewers if there is a possibility in the near future that DISH may stop carrying ABC7. We hope to complete these negotiations very soon.
Why is this happening?
Local television broadcast stations negotiate multi-year carriage agreements with distributors like DISH. These distributors profit by providing ABC7’s programming to you.
It is an expensive endeavor to produce local news, weather and traffic and provide ABC TV Network programming such as World News Tonight with David Muir, College Football, Dancing with the Stars and American Idol in addition to programs like ET, Kelly Clarkson and Ellen.
Montclair Communications needs to be fairly compensated for DISH Network selling our product to you. ABC7’s programs will not be available through DISH Network if a new agreement is not reached. We have had no problem in the past reaching agreements with other cable and satellite providers.
What can you do if ABC7 is no longer on DISH?
You may continue to watch ABC7 over the air with an antenna on Channel 26.1 or through other providers such as Comcast, Summit, DirecTV, Hulu + LIVE TV and YouTube TV.
If an agreement isn’t reached will Dish Network carry another ABC station?
No. There are laws in place protecting local broadcasters.
