4 Local Oktoberfest Celebrations - phoenixmag.com

soworos.blogspot.com

The Four Peaks Oktoberfest celebration at Tempe Town Lake has been going strong for nearly 50 years. However, due to a number of factors, the event won’t be taking place this year. There are still plenty of opportunities to don your dirndl or lederhosen and sip some local brew this season. Here are four beer-centric events happening this fall. Prost!

Wickenburg Oktoberfest
The Arizona Craft Brewers Guild presents historic downtown Wickenburg’s inaugural Oktoberfest event on October 16 with beer tasting from more than 15 Arizona beverage purveyors including Phoenix faves Walter Station Brewing Co. and Simple Machine Brewing Co. German food, live music and lawn games add to the festivities. Purchase tickets ahead of time to beat the lines and snag a VIP pass before they sell out.

Pedal Haus Brewery Oktoberfests
Since opening in Tempe in 2015, Pedal Haus has been gaining momentum in the local craft beer scene and is particularly popular this time of year when it hosts its lively Oktoberfest celebrations. The Chandler location will be hosting the event on October 2 and Tempe will be celebrating on October 9. Expect live music, stein holding competitions, drink specials and the long-awaited release of Pedal Haus’ Oktoberfest beer.

Desert Brews Pop-Up at Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Bungalows
To bring a taste of Oktoberfest to Valley visitors and locals alike, Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Bungalows is launching Desert Brews, a pop-up beer garden that will be open every Friday night throughout October. From 4 to 6 p.m., the Olive Grove next to Weft & Warp Art Bar + Kitchen will come alive with live music, biergarten bites (think pretzels and bratwurst) and complimentary tastings of German beers. Each Friday will feature a different local brewery, starting with Four Peaks on October 1.

Gilbert Oktoberfest
Gilbert’s over-the-top Oktoberfest returns October 23 with stein holding competitions, bratwurst eating contests and traditional polka music with a Top 40 twist thanks to The Oktoburlesques. The family-friendly event will have oversized games, a kids’ zone and themed food and drinks. Those 21 and over can enjoy craft beer from Gilbert breweries such as 12 West Brewing Company, Desert Monks Brewing Co. and Uncle Bears Brewery and Taproom. A portion of proceeds from the event will go to Greater Cause Foundation, which offers critical funding to local organizations like the Children’s Cancer Dream Network and Military Assitance Mission.
