In Celebration of Women’s History Month, Burlington Startup To Donate % of March Profit To Vermont Works For Women (https://www.localmaverickus.com/collections/luna-fest)
Burlington, Vermont— March 8th, 2021 —Burlington startup Local Maverick (LM) has partnered with Vermont Works for Women (VWW) to promote LUNAFEST 2021.
VWW is hosting LUNAFEST, a traveling film festival of award-winning short films by and about women, and this year, offering community members multiple ways to view the films and make a night of supporting economic equity for women and girls in Vermont!
The event features groundbreaking women filmmakers who are capturing untold, thought-provoking stories. Tickets are now available for purchase ($25 an individual, $40 for 2+ persons) for a virtual screening the weekend of March 26-28, to celebrate Women’s History Month.
Local Maverick is offering a selection of curated kits & meals from local women-owned and/or operated businesses for you to enjoy the ultimate home viewing experience. Options include an “Elevated Movie Dinner”, a “Wellness Box”, and two options of “Sweet Boxes”. All are available to purchase now and a % of profits will be donated to Vermont Works for Women.

Vermont’s Gender Wage Gap:
According to the “Change the Story 2019 Status Report: Women, Work, and Wages in Vermont”, women earn 16 cents less on every dollar earned by a man. Women’s full-time earnings in Vermont are lower than men’s in every county, at every education level, and at every age. The differences are even more pronounced for women of color and those living with disabilities. Median annual income for women working full-time is $41,146, about $8,000 less than the median annual salary of men ($49,027).24.
