MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Water giveaways taking place across the city really show how dire the need is for Memphians to receive necessities right now.

The Pursuit of God Church is giving away cases to families who still have little water or no water at all.

Councilmembers Martavius Jones and J.B Smiley are partnering with the church.  Hundreds of cars lined up in the parking lot.

At 2:30 p.m., FOX13 counted 75 cars that were out in the street around that time.  The giveaway started at 4 p.m.

The first person in line said he got there at 1:30 p.m.

FOX13 spoke with one woman and who came to the giveaway. She’s like many families who still do not have water.

“It’s helpful, it’s very helpful for the community and for our family, providing water and we’re thankful for them being here and providing it,” said Luvenia Kings.

About 700 cases were given away at the church.
