April 26, 2022 (Astoria, OR) — The Clatsop County Board of Commissioners has approved $30,000 in funding for 13 local non-profit groups that provide a variety of services to local residents.
“Our County is pleased to be one of the many organizations that financially support programs and services that make our community thrive. These grant funds will enhance the services provided for our residents by local nonprofit organizations,” said Monica Steele, assistant county manager.
Each year, the Board invites grant applications from local human and social service organizations. The requests must show that the grant recipients:
- Follow a mission that is consistent with county priorities and fits the goals of the strategic plan;
- Provide services that are available to ALL county residents, as opposed to residents of a particular geographic area;
- Work collaboratively with other organizations and actively seeks and receives significant portions of their funding from organizations other than the county;
- Address a need that is currently not being addressed by other organizations and/or agencies;
- Serve those most in need socially or economically, and
- Serve the largest number of county residents.
The applications were reviewed by the county’s volunteer Human Services Advisory Council, which recommended recipients and grant amounts to the Board.
