At Wild Horse Golf Course on Monday, Gary Selby won Flight A with a net 68, followed by Dan Powell (72) and John O’Brien (73).
Steve Johnson won Flight B with a net 70, followed by Mike Bizjak (71) and Dennis Kalis (73).
Flight C went to Ron Templeton with a net 69, followed by Frank Bottoms (71) and Andre Fowler (73).
Art Calderon won Flight D with a net 72, followed by Ron Hunter (75) and John Fink (76).
Dennis Devlin came closest to the pin on hole No. 4 at 6 feet, 4 inches. Bizjak was nearest on No. 12 at 7 feet, 2 inches, while Frank Ostrum came closest on No. 15 at 5 inches.
Nine Arounders
In Sweeps on Tuesday, Genny Lopez won first flight with a gross of 52 and a net of 37. Rene Romiski (58/40) was next followed by Glora Ostrum (55/41).
Second flight went to Kim Wink (56/36), followed by Barbara James (58/39) and Sandy Latchford (61/40).
Carole Hiltman (59/37) won third flight, followed by Sue Watkins (63/41) and Stephanie Adams (66/44).
Niners
This week the Niners played on Wednesday due to a tournament being held at the course on their regular Thursday play day. There were several ties. Most were broken within one or two holes but in the third flight, we had to go to the fifth handicap hole to break a tie between Barb Ray and Marge Tye. Unfortunately, we only paid for four places so Marge lost out. Sorry, Marge!
Sue Watkins was the sole chip-in winner.
In first flight, Genny Lopez and Glora Ostrum netted 31s, Lopez winning on the tiebreaker. Dottie Foltz (33) and Judy Royle (34) were next.
Barbara James won second flight with a net 28, followed by Rene Romiski (29). Marilyn Weaver and Liz Dykstra both carded 32s, Weaver edging her out on the tiebreaker.
Kay Williams won third flight with a net 29, followed by Terri Denton (32), followed by Rosemarie Chonzena and Ray, who both shot 35s.
Fourth flight went to Shirley Helmich, who netted a 32. Linda Perry was second with a 35. Shirly Morris and Carmen Haynes both carded 36s, Morris winning on the tiebreaker.
Paradise Valley Women’s Golf Club
In Sweeps on Thursday, Linda Grace won first flight with a 64, followed by P.J.Lowrey (71), Darlene Goodman (72) and Jackie Smith (72).
Second flight went to Vicky Flandi with a 68, followed by Jackye Harbert (71), Sandy Kreger (76) and Joan McClusky (76).
Elaine Hahn won third flight with a 70, followed by Mary Fowler (71), Joan Dominquez (73) and LeeAnn Fortney (74).
The fourth flight winner was Kelyne Maertz with a 68, followed by Henri Newland (73), Lisa Finnegan (78) and Becky Carroll (79).
Myrna DeMartino came closest to the pin on hole No. 3 at 14 feet, 8 inches. Maertz was next closest at 30 feet, 2 inches.
On No. 16, Finnegan was closest at 1 foot even, while Fortney was 1 foot, 1 inch away.
Fowler birdied hole No. 14.
Chip-ins were recorded by Trish Boldt on hole No. 11, Maria Quaintance on No. 6, Flandi on No. 9 and Fowler on No. 15.
Rancho Solano Women’s Golf Club
In a game of Cha, Cha, Cha, Doreen Moses had the low gross of 83.
The first-place team was Donna Scolara, Moses and Kelyne Maertz
Second place went to Carol Hummel, Connie Rothermel, Betsy Stockdale and Amy Shively
Moses chipped in on hole No. 3 and Myrna DeMartina on No. 12.
Moses birdied hole No. 3.
Shively was closest to the pin on hole No. 8 at 19 feet, 6 inches, while Maertz came nearest on No. 15 at 33 feet, 2 inches.
