STOCKHOLM--Swedish telecommunications operator Telia Co. AB said Wednesday that it has launched its 5G standalone core network in Finland.
The company said the network operates as a fully independent network, providing for higher capacity, increased security, lower latency and network slicing functionality, supporting enterprise customers' need for business model innovation and sets the foundation for new consumer applications.
Telia said it will also utilize the network to offer its residential customers in Finland broadband connections with guaranteed speeds.
The 5G standalone core network is initially launched to selected users in 20 geographical areas across Finland, with further rollout to follow.
