A local music artist will be performing at different music festivals during 2021.
The artist is Dylan Hunter, or Dÿlan, is from the Mt. Pleasant area and will be attending school at Sacred Heart Academy.
Dÿlan makes electronic dance music that includes the future bass, trap, and dubstep styles.
“Dÿlan has always enjoyed music from a young age,” John Hunter, Dÿlan’s father, said. “He’s danced with Professor Ricky ‘Bird’ Clarkson since age 8 and got involved DJing at 9 with a silent disco at Breakaway Music Festival in Grand Rapids. He got his 1st DJ kit for Christmas and he’s been hooked on it ever since.”
In 2020 during the pandemic, Dÿlan began producing music and has several tracks soon to be released in the early fall of 2021. His new hit single ‘Down Tonight’ will be available on streaming platforms soon.
“So far Dÿlan’s DJ & Producing passion has be an amazing experience,” Hunter said. “Being part of such a tight knit community and learning from so many other artists has been a humbling experience. Dÿlan collaborates with other producers and has learned to work with vocalist to get his music created. It’s been a wild ride which hopefully is only beginning.”
Dÿlan recently rebranded himself from the artist formerly know as DJ Dill Pickle before changing his stage name.
“When the pandemic it became apparent that the timing was right and natural to progress to the next stage and switch from being a DJ to a music producer,” Hunter said. “He DJ’d for 3 plus years as DJ Dill Pickle and played shows all over the Midwest including a main stage spot at Milwaukee’s Summerfest in front of thousands of people. He’s DJs festivals, arenas, baseball parks, pep assemblies, fundraisers, and many other functions. He’s opened up for some for the largest acts in the world.”
The young artist is hoping to make his passion for music into a career in some capacity.
Dÿlan will be performing on the mainstage at Breakaway Music Festival in Grand Rapids on Saturday, Aug. 28 at 3:30 p.m. He will be performing in the Confluence 2021 Music Showcase at the Confluence Festival in Grand Rapids on Sept. 25.
“Dÿlan received an offer from the talent booker for the festival who was really interested in having a youth producer on a first year festival of this type,” Hunter said. “The confluence lineup features national and local musicians who merge art, music, and technology to create a powerful and diverse live experience.”
