Shop local in Ely

Ely's tenth annual Citywide Rummage, Business Crazy Day and Used Equipment and Watercraft sale is Saturday, May 22. The citywide rummage sale runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The hours of businesses and equipment and watercraft sales will vary, but a full map of participants is now available at the Ely Chamber office, 1600 E. Sheridan St., the chamber's Facebook page or at ely.org/citywide. Local restaurants will also be participating in the day's festivities.

May 22 will also kick off the Shop Local-Ely campaign, which will introduce a coupon card instead of the usual coupon books. The card will allow participating businesses to switch up their deals throughout the year. Cards will be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the chamber office, or at the chamber's Facebook page or website.

Need a web presence?

Twin Ports business owners who haven't had time or funds to set up their own website now have a free option with Dulocal. Created by licensed financial adviser Ryan Harrington, Dulocal was created to help out small-business owners and micro-entrepreneurs who need an online platform to offer their services. He currently does not charge a fee to list businesses on the website, and there is no commission for sales made on Dulocal.

To sign up, fill out the form at dulocal.co. The site can list up to 25 products per business. Harrington said some businesses can even just offer gift cards if the business is more service-based than product-based. The virtual marketplace will show all participating businesses for customers to browse through all in one place.
