Local health departments release COVID-19 numbers, nine deaths on Tuesday - WYMT

HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Health departments across the mountains released updated coronavirus numbers and nine deaths on Tuesday.

The Harlan County Health Department reported five deaths bringing the death toll to 33. There are also 24 new cases bringing the total to 1,692.

The Cumberland Valley District Health Department reported the 15th death in Clay County, the 23rd death in Jackson County and the eighth death in Rockcastle County. Clay County reported 11 new cases bringing the total to 1,447 with 599 of those active. Jackson County reported 15 new cases bringing the total to 564 with 192 of those active. In Rockcastle County, there are six new cases bringing the total to 627 with 120 of those active.

The Laurel County Health Department reported 133 new cases bringing the total to 4,160.

The Knox County Health Department reported 46 new cases with five of those being children. This brings the county’s total to 2,067 with 245 of those active.

The Whitley County Health Department reported 67 new cases bringing the total to 2,452 with 309 of those active.

The Bell County Health Department reported 38 new cases bringing the total to 1,951 with 220 of those active.

The Kentucky River District Health Department reported 12 new cases in Knott County bringing the total to 768. Lee County has two new cases bringing the total to 1,053. In Leslie County, there are 14 new cases bringing the total to 507. Letcher County reported 14 new cases bringing the total to 1,140. Perry County has 17 new cases bringing the total to 1,632. Wolfe County reported four new cases bringing the total to 313.

The Floyd County Health Department reported 47 new cases bringing the total to 2,017 with 266 of those active.

The Lawrence County Health Department reported 15 new cases bringing the total to 885 with 206 of those active.

The Lake Cumberland District Health Department reported 135 new cases and one new death in our viewing area Tuesday. The death was an 85-year-old man who was a long term care resident from McCreary County. McCreary County also reported 32 new cases Tuesday, bringing the county’s total to 1,217. Pulaski County reported 51 new cases, bringing the county’s total up to 4,037. Wayne County also reported 52 new cases, bringing the total number of cases in the county up to 1,581.
