Grand Forks coach Brent Newman: “Tonight was a little different than our past few meets. We swam well and were motivated and the guys really supported each other, but there was just a little bit of an undercurrent of the lethargy that we are feeling right now as a group. NOT unexpected. We are past the halfway point of the season. Swimming and diving is a mentally and physically taxing sport. These guys have trained their hearts out this season and we have, fortunately, seen some of that tiredness creep into what we are trying to do. This is a good thing for us. What is really impressive and encouraging is that not one guy used the excuse of being tired in their efforts tonight. They competed, gave their best effort, and had another good solid night of swimming and diving. We continue to be proud of what these guys are willing to give to, and for, each other as we work through this season of swimming and diving. They really showed up tonight against a tough, and deep, Fargo North team. Our guys were not intimidated, nor discouraged swimming against a team that outnumbered us two to one. Great effort all around!”
