COLUMBUS, Ind. – Community volunteers are launching a “Think Local” campaign to help local businesses who have struggled during COVID-19. Online retail has grown by 30% because of the pandemic, which motivated volunteers from the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce to launch a local business campaign.

“Any business that invests in a local brick-and-mortar operation in our community is one we should support. Each operation, whether corporate-owned, a franchise, or a locally-owned venture adds to our local economy by investing in its workers, maintaining physical buildings, and paying local taxes,” said Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce president Cindy Frey.

“Think Local” in Columbus hopes to inspire citizens to direct their collective buying power into businesses within the community. The team reminds residents that local jobs that are at stake. Foodservice and retail industries employ more than 8,600 people in Bartholomew County.
