A new campaign aims to help support California restaurants, and you could win a $500 gift card by helping to support them.

The Grateful Table Dine Out is asking diners to patronize local restaurants throughout the month of November.

The campaign — run by the California Restaurant Association Foundation — is also raising awareness and soliciting donations for the nonprofit Restaurants Care relief fund for struggling restaurant workers.

To enter to win a $500 gift card, post a photo of your meal on Instagram, tag the restaurant, and use the hashtag #gratefultablesweepstakes.

Two prizes are being awarded each week.

Local featured restaurants include Black Bear DinerEureka!Farmer Boys, and Outback Steakhouse locations, plus Babe’s Bar-B-Que & Brewhouse in Rancho Mirage, and Smokin’ Burgers in Palm Springs.

Restaurant owners still have time to be featured by visiting thegratefultabledineout.org/sign-up.

Goodbye, Frost

One of our favorite Inland Empire gelato shops has closed.

Frost Gelato was formerly in Rancho Cucamonga’s Victoria Gardens at 12385 South Mainstreet, Suite 1040.

In its place is another dessert shop, Drunken Cake Pops, which specializes — as one might expect from the name — in alcohol-infused cake pops.

Flavors include Lemon Drop Martini, Red Wine Velvet, and Birthday Cake Shot.

Alcohol-free “virgin” flavors are also available.

Give and get

How would you like to get free food while helping support literacy and funding scholarships for deserving high school students?

Burger King is selling virtual “coupon books” for $1 via its app.

Proceeds will benefit the Burger King McLamore Foundation, an organization that promotes literacy and awards college scholarships.

The virtual “books” contain six coupons for free food: Two small frozen drinks, two small hash browns or fries, and two soft-serve cones or cups.

Here’s how it works: Start by downloading the Burger King app, and in the “Our Favorites” section of the menu, add the BK Scholars coupon book to your cart.

Once you check out, the free items will automatically show up in the “Offers” section of the app.

Boba’s back

Boba Break Tea House has reopened its Rancho Cucamonga and Chino locations.

Hours for both locations are 11 a.m.-9 p.m. daily.

In addition to boba drinks, the Rancho Cucamonga location (11460 Kenyon Way) will again serve crêpes, and the Chino location (5490 Philadelphia St.) is serving an assortment of snacks, like wings, fries. and popcorn chicken.

Panera does pizza

Panera Bread has added flatbread pizzas to its menu.

Three varieties are available: Cheese, Margherita and chipotle chicken and bacon.

Locally, prices are $8.19 for the cheese flatbread, and $9.29 for Margherita and chipotle chicken and bacon.

Give back

Hitch Burger in Rancho Cucamonga is helping collect non-perishable food donations for Project Boon’s Eat and Be Well event, set for 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25 at Jack Bulik Park in Fontana.

There is still a need for turkey gravy, cranberry sauce, and chicken stock.

Hitch Burger is at 10789 Arrow Route.

Mile-high burgers

There’s a new burger joint in the San Bernardino mountains.

Blue Jay Burgers is now open at 27284 Highway 189, Blue Jay.

It’s a sister restaurant to Hortencia’s at the Cliffhanger.

Hours are 7 a.m.-10 p.m. daily, with breakfast served from 7-10 a.m.
