SODDY DAISY, Tenn. – Emergency responders from federal, state and local agencies will join Tennessee Valley Authority personnel in an emergency preparedness graded exercise involving the Sequoyah nuclear plant on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 14 and 15.
The exercise is part of an ongoing series of training drills and exercises required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to ensure an effective and coordinated response to protect the health and safety of the public in the unlikely event of an emergency at Sequoyah.
Results of the exercise will be shared at a public meeting on Friday, Sept. 16, at 3 p.m. ET, in Ballrooms 1 & 2 of the Chattanoogan Hotel, located at 1201 Broad St., Chattanooga. Given the current COVID transmission rates in Hamilton County, those wishing to attend are asked to take appropriate precautions to help ensure the health of all attendees.
