The Solano College women’s volleyball team won two matches at the Modesto Classic on Friday afternoon to improve its record to 4-2 on the season.
Solano won the first match against Modesto by the score of 25-27, 25-18, 23-25, 27-25, 15-10.
Sammy Brown had a stellar match with 27 kills, while adding 16 digs andserving 16-17 with an ace.
Hannah Del Rio added 11 kills with two blocks, while Dani Rydjord ran the offense with a whooping 42 assists to go along with 15 digs while serving 18-21 with five aces. Crystal Carroll led the defense with 27 digs, serving 28-29 with 3 aces, Kelsey Wall chipped in 20 digs and 9 kills, Jailynn Bermudez served 12-13 with two aces and added five digs.
Eryka Ferrer served 14-15, while Lili Ayala added three kills and two blocks.
“Great serving night, get defense, the team had 89 digs with 51 kills,” Solano head coach Darla Williams said. “What a great match to win, we fought to the very end.”
After a short break Solano then defeated Porterville College in three sets. 25-19, 25-8, 25-21.
Brown had 17 kills and 10 digs, Wall added eight kills and four aces, while Carroll led the defense with 11 digs.
Rydjord ran the offense with another 30 assists, serving 18-19 with three aces. Del Rio chipped in six kills and three blocks.
Next Wednesday Solano travels to Diablo Valley to play DVC at 2 p.m. and Merced Community College at a scheduled 4 p.m. time.

Montgomery 53, Jesse Bethel 14
The Jesse Bethel High football team fell to 0-2 on the year with a Friday night 53-14 loss to Montgomery at Corbus Field.
Bethel will try to regroup in a rivalry game on Friday against Vallejo.
