JACKSON, MI – Many great restaurants have been in the building David Hernandez now has, and he’s ready to continue that legacy.
The building at 2241 Brooklyn Road was home to Giglio’s Italian Restaurant until 2015, and then was taken over by Casa Rodriguez in 2019. Now, Fiesta Mexicana Restaurant & Cantina #2 is at home in the spot..
“It’s a challenge, especially because we did not advertise it,” Hernandez said, adding that becoming the next best restaurant in that building is a challenge they are up for..
Fiesta Mexicana Restaurant & Cantina’s first restaurant opened in Charlotte in 2020 during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We were only doing take out. No one knew our name, our food, nothing,” Hernandez said.
However, the restaurant still flourished, thanks to the amazing food and staff, Hernandez said. Hearing this Jackson-area building was available, he said opening a second restaurant just made sense.
Fiesta Mexicana Restaurant & Cantina is known for its friendly workers, attentive staff and a welcoming atmosphere, Hernandez said.
“We do the best to have customer satisfaction with a smile on their face,” he said.
Along with that, the food is pretty good, too, Hernandez said. The menu offers a large range of authentic Mexican food, including tacos, burritos, gorditas, chimichanga, tamales, chalupas, fajitas and more.
Some of the most popular menu items are the wet burrito and birria tacos. Drinks include house margaritas and other mixed drinks.
Large portions at great prices are a restaurant trademark, Hernandez said.
“My favorite thing is the expression on the peoples’ faces when we bring out a burrito,” Hernandez said.
Fiesta Mexicana Restaurant & Cantina #2, 2241 Brooklyn Road, is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. everyday of the week. More information can be found on its Facebook page.
