Solano College hosted the first Solano Classic of the season on Friday and finished 1-1 on the night.
In the first match against Hartnell, the Falcons won 24-26, 18-25, 25-15, 26-24, 15-11.
“It took us a bit to warm up, but when we finally did the team gelled together and fought to survive,” Solano head coach Darla Williams said. “It was a great come-from-behind win. We played tremendous defense.”
On offense Sammy Brown led with 20 kills and 31 digs, while serving 15-16. Dani Rydjord stepped up with 28 assists. She added 20-20 from the service line and added seven kills.
In the middle Hannah Del Rio led the Falcons with five blocks and chipped in eigh kills. Crystal Carroll contributed 24 digs, served 17-19., while Kelsey Wall chipped in with 22 digs, serving 17-19 while adding six kills.
After a break Solano played Delta College of Stockton and lost in three 25-11, 25-19, 25-10.
“We had some wonderful digs and great defense, but other parts of our game just could not come together,” Williams said. “We missed too many serves and could not find rhythm on our offense.”
Brown had 8 kills and 10 digs. Wall contributed with 14 digs and four kills.
On Aug. 31 Solano will host College of Sequoias at 3 p.m. and Folsom Lake College at approximately 7 p.m. later that day.

The Bethel High football team got off to a rough start on Friday night as the Jaguars lost 59-0 on the road.
Bethel’s next game is Friday at home against Montgomery of Santa Rosa before the Mayor’s Cup on Sept. 9 against Vallejo.
