The Montclair Public Library’s art series continues with “Other Imagery” on view in the Montclair Public Library Gallery during library hours all December.
This exhibit by local artists Paul D. Brown, Glen Frieson and Willie Kearney consists of both fine and photographic art. This show represents more than 100 years of collective involvement in the capture of the “visually stimulating.”
Brown began taking photos in the late 1960s with a loaner 35mm camera, according to a library press release. He gravitated more toward film and video, but has continued to take photos throughout his career.
In 1971, Frieson’s mother bought him a 35mm camera, and 10,000 assignments later, his range is quite vast, the release said. Candids, architecture, points of interest and art are some of the subject matter.
Kearney’s art reflects the melding of the past and present in using both traditional and non-traditional media, the release said. The work also incorporates themes from major world religions.
