Grand Forks head swimming coach Brent Newman: “We had another really good day swimming and competing against Moorhead. Today was a rare opportunity, that will be more common this season, to have a dual on a Saturday. It was nice for the guys to have a shorter meet to focus on without the lengthy delays between events. The guys appear to be having fun, they support each other, they are getting mentally stronger along with their physical strength each day. We had some tough competition today and the guys stepped up to that challenge. We had multiple PR swims again today. We were able to sneak in a couple wins, but also lost a couple along the way. Moving forward, today should have shown the guys they really need to focus on their discipline at practice so that when it comes to the competition pool, they will not have any doubts or regrets. We are really proud of their continued efforts and improvement.”
Grand Forks’ next competition is a home dual on Friday, January 22 against the West Fargo Sheyenne Mustangs.

Grand Forks head swimming coach Brent Newman: “We were fortunate to be able to travel today in order to compete against the Eagles. The guys have been working really hard in the pool for the past week and a half, and they needed some competition to realize the improvements they have been making in training. Tonight was a really fun meet to watch and just see how well this group is coming together. There were some difficulties out of our control to begin the meet and the team really did a good job of just doing their part and focusing on what they did have control over...something we’ve all been working on. We were able to get our first competitive look at our EGF athletes who were finally able to join us last week. We also had several other new guys to the team able to get in their first meet for the season and they did a good job in their first showing. So, considering how tired the team is right now from their training, we had a really good meet tonight. We are looking forward to seeing what develops tomorrow as they will be expected to get a good night’s sleep and race again.”
