Where local, national media outlets rank the Bears after their Week 8 loss against the Saints - DeKalb Daily Chronicle

The Bears remained pretty steady in the latest round of NFL power rankings. The consensus seems to be, at least right now, that this is a decent team with a shot at making the playoffs – but far from a great team.

In the latest round of power rankings, the Bears’ average spot is 14.8. The overtime loss to the New Orleans Saints didn’t inflict too much of a drop from a week earlier.

Here’s where local and national outlets rank the Bears after Week 8:

Shaw Local: 13

Writes our Hub Arkush: “With any offense they’d be dangerous, huge O-line worries now.”

Chicago Tribune: 15

Writes the Chicago Tribune: “The offense is such that the Bears will struggle to win when they don’t benefit from an advantage in takeaways, field position and penalties.”

ESPN: 13

Writes ESPN: “[Cairo] Santos single-handedly solved Chicago's kicker crisis. Signed in late summer after Eddy Pineiro suffered a groin injury, Santos has been the Bears' best offensive weapon through eight games.”

NFL.com: 15

Writes NFL.com: “The Bears nearly did it again on Sunday, rallying back from a double-digit fourth-quarter deficit to force overtime against the Saints. But the offense stalled in its one possession in the extra period.”

Sports Illustrated: 16

Writes Sports Illustrated: “You, me, Troy Aikman, Nick Foles … we are all confounded by this Bears offense.”

USA Today: 17

Writes USA Today: “This offense had been basically punchless all season ... until (now suspended) WR Javon Wims did his best to change that.”

CBS Sports: 16

Writes CBS Sports: “Their fast start looks to be fading away with two losses in a row. At least the offense got them back into it against the Saints, which is progress.”

The Athletic: 16

Writes The Athletic: “I’m not so sure Troy Aikman has ever been more disgusted watching an NFL offense. He was crushing the Bears all game long during the FOX broadcast.”

Yahoo Sports: 15

Writes Yahoo Sports: “How are things going in Chicago? The headline on Mark Potash’s column for the Chicago Sun-Times on Monday: “Why is Nick Foles worse than Mitch Trubisky?” So ... yeah.”

Bleacher Report: 12

Writes Bleacher Report: “Chicago has played four teams this season that presently sport a winning record and is 1-3 in those games.”
