The Connecticut High School Coaches Association announced its Eastern Region all-state cross country teams on Sunday.
The boys' team included Luke Anthony and Fisher Macklin of East Lyme, Aidan Pepin and Sean Corman of Waterford, Michael Strain of Griswold, Peyton Ramsey of NFA, Ryan Gruczka of Stonington, Victor Cazabal of Windham and Jack Pothier of Plainfield.
Sophia Jones and Makayla Kelley of NFA made the girls' team along with Jordan Malloy of Bacon Academy, Isabelle Paggioli of East Lyme, Jessica Casey of Lyman Memorial and Serena Britner of St. Bernard.
Selections were made by a coaches' selection committee taken from coaches' nominations. The CHSCA all-state team is normally determined by finishes in CIAc class meets and the State Open.
Road racing
• Sam Alexander of Mystic won the Li'l Rhody Runaround on Sunday in Charleston, R.I., finishing the eight-mile trail race in 46:32. Mark Olivier of North Stonington was second in 47:15 and the top five also included Brian Coyne of Manchester (49:11), Steven Brightman of Providence (49:30) and Sebastian Reisch of Westerly (49:41). Other local runners finishing in the top 25 were David Goodrich of Waterford (11th, 52:21), Carson Riley of Mystic (13th, 53:26), Mathew Ridley of Mystic (14th, 54:06) and Ted Kenyon of Griswold (25th, 57:30).
Tom Bousquet of Westerly won the four-mile trail race in 25:38. Also finishing in the top 10 were Shara Delene Bousquet of Westerly (27:36), Thomas Olendorf of Mystic (28:57), Cali West of Westerly (30:44), Marcy Withington of East Lyme (30:46), Laura Asbury of Ledyard (30:48), Alana Olendorf of Mystic (31:00), Andrew Pietraszka of Westerly (31:28), Peyton Pietraszka of Westerly (34:02) and Gillian Langton of North Scituate, R.I. (34:10).
