As the 2020 harness racing season in Indiana winds down, several local stables are racing outside the state, including at the new Kentucky track at Oak Grove, in Christian County, near Fort Campbell. This new track opened for the first time a few weeks ago, and the Conrad Stable and the Brock Stable both raced horses there last week.
In a race for pacing fillies last Tuesday, the Conrad 3-year-old filly Moscato won and the Brock filly Gimme Sunshine was third. Also on Tuesday, Nov. 3, Conrad’s mare Primo Extremo was second in her race and their 3-year-old pacing colt Bludhaven was third in his race.
The Brock stable also sent postward on Nov. 3 its filly Call Girl, but she was sixth and out of the money.
Earlier in the week, the Brock mare Hey Hey Mahanna was sixth, but the stable’s older pacing gelding Winyard Hanover picked up third-place money in his race.
Also racing outside Indiana was Hayswood Ron, owned by Hayswood Farm of Corydon and King Racing of Ohio. The 4-year-old pacer was third in his race at Dayton Raceway in Ohio on Monday afternoon, Nov. 2.
At Hoosier Park during the last full week of racing, as the schedule winds down to the close of the meet in Anderson on Nov. 21, the 2-year-old filly Brandon’s Rose was sixth in her race last Tuesday. This filly, a native of Lanesville who was born and raised on the Alvin Walther farm south of town, is now owned by a group of Indiana horsemen and is nearing the end of her freshman campaign.
Also at Hoosier Park, the Conrad stable picked up third-place money last Wednesday with its 3-year-old trotter Mount Swanmore and the winner’s share of the purse on Thursday with their older pacing stallion Uncaged.
Even after Hoosier Park closes, a few local horses will continue to race in Ohio and elsewhere during the winter months.
