DUKE VS. WAKE FOREST...
Duke and Wake Forest will meet for the 33rd time in school history with the Blue Devils leading the series, 19-9-4, including a five-match win streak dating back to the 2013 campaign.

In matches played in Durham, N.C., the Blue Devils have collected a 10-1-2 record and two straight victories.

The squads have combined to score 17 goals over the last three matches.  The seven goals scored in the meeting on Sept. 10 was the most in the all-time series between the teams.

Head coach Robbie Church is 14-9-4 all-time against Wake Forest.

Marykate McGuire has scored three goals in the last two matches versus WFU, including the final two tallies to lead Duke to the win over the Demon Deacons.

WHAT HAPPENED ON SEPT. 10...
In the season opener, Marykate McGuire scored two goals over the final 8:05 of the match and secured her second multi-goal contest of her career and third game-winner, while sophomore Sophie Jones assisted on both of the final two tallies.

With 2:16 left in regulation, Duke was able to equalize the match as senior Mia Gyau sent a short cross to Jones at the top of the box.  A native of Menlo Park, Calif., Jones found a streaking McGuire who used her left foot to finish her 13th career goal into the bottom right corner to move the score to 3-3.

Then Duke registered the game-winner at the 95:08 mark as Taylor Mitchell drive up to the midfield mark and passed to Jones, who then sent a long feed to McGuire.  A Portsmouth, R.I., product, McGuire showcased some impressive footwork doing a 360 degree turn and finished once again with her left foot near the right post to give the Blue Devils the win.

Duke outshot Wake Forest, 23-6, for the match.

AT HOME IN KOSKINEN STADIUM...
Over the last four years at home in Koskinen Stadium, the Blue Devils have registered a 21-2-8 record.  During that streak, Duke has outscored its opponents by a 97-20 ledger.

NOTING DUKE...
•  It marks the third time in school history the Blue Devils have opened the season with back-to-back overtime contests (2020, 2007, 2005).
•  Marykate McGuire now owns 12 career assists and 40 points as a Blue Devil.  She leads Duke with six points on the season in two matches.
•  Senior Lily Nabet missed the Virginia game with an injury and is listed as day-to-day.
•  Duke has had to come-from-behind in both of its matches to open the season.

COSME DOING IT ON BOTH ENDS...
One of the leaders on defense for the Blue Devils, Caitlin Cosme, is now becoming one of the top goal scorers for Duke.  Cosme has collected Duke's first goal in each of the first two contests for the Blue Devils.

She notched a header off a corner kick at Wake Forest to give Duke a 1-0 lead early.  Cosme then finished the equalizer against Virginia in the second half off a free kick to send the Blue Devils to a draw with the Cavaliers.

Cosme has tallied three career goals in 30 games, while attempting 10 shots.

JONES MAKES FIRST COLLEGIATE START...
After seeing limited action as a rookie, sophomore Ruthie Jones made a solid impression Thursday in her first collegiate start versus Virginia.  The Cavaliers feature one of the top offensives nationally.

Jones played 110 minutes and had six saves, while allowing only one goal.

NO BETTER PLACE THAN HOME...
Duke will welcome Wake Forest to Koskinen Stadium, which will mark the second of five straight home matches for the Blue Devils.  In fact, those five home matches are all Duke will have this season.  The Blue Devils will close the fall campaign with five consecutive road contests.

MCGUIRE IS GOLDEN AT WAKE FOREST...
Junior Marykate McGuire scored two goals over the final 8:05 at Wake Forest in the season opener to push Duke past the Demon Deacons, 4-3, in overtime.

With under three minutes remaining in regulation and Duke trailing 3-2, McGuire collected the equalizing goal with 2:16 on the clock to send the match to overtime, off assists from Mia Gyau and Sophie Jones.  Then at the 95:08 mark, McGuire showcased some impressive footwork doing a 360 degree turn and finished with her left foot near the right post to give Duke the golden goal victory, 4-3, off assists from Taylor Mitchell and Jones.  The goal was the sixth-quickest in overtime in Duke history.

McGuire attempted a school-record 10 shots and collected her second multi-goal performance of her career.  She was rewarded for her efforts this week being named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week and to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week.

Her father, Kent, is an airline pilot and her mom, Kristin, is an air ambulance pilot for a children's hospital.
