Governor Andrew Cuomo is calling on federal leaders to find a way to bring financial assistance to municipalities across New York State.
The latest pandemic relief bill appears to leave out local governments, which will be crucial to limiting the impact on individuals.
Some communities in New York State will be forced to consider massive tax hikes if federal assistance does not come through soon.
City and county budgets have been decimated by the pandemic, and local leaders have repeatedly called on Capitol Hill to include funding in future relief plans, warning of massive cuts in jobs and local services if Washington fails to cover the revenue losses.
Services that could be cut include education, public health, police, and fire departments.
