Leon County saw 121 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Sunday, which breaks through the 3,000 mark locally for the number of recorded cases.
The local total now stands at a cumulative 3,005 number of reported cases, according to the Florida Department of Health.
In nearby Liberty County, the state health department reports that a 76-year-old man has died due to COVID-19.
It is unclear from the state's daily COVID-19 report if the man died in the rural county or elsewhere.
The state health department reports the deaths of individuals associated with COVID-19 in the county where the person was a resident, even if they died outside the county.

The man had not traveled recently but had come into contact with someone else who tested positive for the virus, according to reports.
The state health department provides no further information about the man except to say he was a Florida resident.
COVID-19 among prisons
Nineteen more inmates at Wakulla Correctional Institution have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Florida Department of Corrections. The facility, which houses men, reports it is able to house 1,397 people.
The Crawfordville facility's total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases now stands at 87, according to the corrections department.
Local hospitalizations
Local hospitals report 73 people hospitalized with COVID-19.
Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare reports 40 people are in-patients due to the virus, while Capital Regional Medical Center reports 33 people are hospitalized with the virus. These numbers are the same Sunday as they were Saturday.
Health officials have said the hospitals do not technically record the number of people who are considered recovered from the virus.

- Jefferson County has 113 cases out of 1,754 tests. Positivity rate: 6%
- Wakulla County has 279 cases out of 3,799 tests. Positivity rate: 7%
- Taylor County has 206 cases out of 2,253 tests. Positivity rate: 9%

COVID-19 in local prisons, jails
- Leon County Detention Center has reported 13 inmates are positive for COVID-19.
- Apalachee Correctional Institution has 152 inmates and 20 staff members who tested positive for COVID-19. This is one more staffer positive than previously reported.
- Gadsden Correctional Facility has 92 inmates and 22 staffers who tested positive. This is one more staffer positive than previously reported.
- Gadsden Re-entry Center has two staffers who tested positive.
- Jackson Correctional Institution has not had any inmates test positive but has nine staff members who have. This is two more staffers positive than previously reported.
- Jefferson Correctional Institution has three inmates and 27 staff members who have tested positive for COVID-19. This is one more staffer positive than previously reported.
- Liberty Correctional Institution has 215 inmates and 13 staff members who are positive for COVID-19.
- Wakulla Correctional Institution now has 87 inmates who have tested positive for COVID-19 and 19 staffers who also have tested positive.
