Native Farmers’ Market features a wide variety of food and merchandise items from local vendors.

The Native Farmers’ Market is a weekly event that happens every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the corner of Broadway and Leaton Roads. The market features a lot of native vendors, as well as other local vendors and food trucks from around the community.

“We currently have around 15 vendors signed up but some drop in later,” Jasmine Gonzalez, one of the market organizers said.

One of the vendors at the Native Farmers’ Market includes Papa’s Pumpkin Patch. This is the first time in a few years that the Pumpkin Patch has appeared at this Market.

“We generally do the farmers’ markets in Midland and Mt. Pleasant and this is another market to get the word out about the farm,” Papa’s Pumpkin Patch farm hand Kayla Frens said.

Some of the items sold were asparagus, canned jams and baked goods among other items.

The Pumpkin Patch is currently open Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the summer.

Another vendor at the market is Susie’s Homemade Jam. The business is run by Susanne O’Neil, who sells a variety of homemade jams made with fruits that are usually locally sold and peppers grown from her garden.

O’Neil also sells at craft shows and other markets around the area.

“I cook at CMU and doing this helps during the time of the year when I’m not working,” O’Neil said.

While the market is going on, attendees can sign up for a raffle. People can submit their name and number each time they come to the market and at the end of the season, they have a chance to win some prizes. The prizes include two $50 gift cards or two free concert tickets of their choice.
