Montclair Police have arrested two men they say burglarized or attempted to burglarize several cars and two Montclair establishments.
Jorge Dalmaumartinez, 18, of West Orange and Joseph Azofeifa, 19, of Montclair are both facing several charges after, police say, they were linked to incidents on several streets.
Police said they were dispatched to the rear parking lot of 554 Bloomfield Ave. just before 6 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14, on a report of two individuals in ski masks looking into cars. While they were in the area, they were flagged down by a worker at Faubourg Restaurant and Bar who said he’d just arrived to work and saw two men in masks inside the restaurant, police said.
Officers checked inside and found the two men, who then fled east on Bloomfield Avenue, police said. Officers gave chase on foot and caught both in the North Fullerton Avenue parking deck, police said.
Both had gloves, pliers and flashlights, as well as numerous debit and credit cards that did not belong to them, police said.

Dalmaumartinez and Azofeifa were each charged with burglary (to Faubourg), possession of burglary tools and obstruction by flight. Azofeifa was also found to be in possession of a knife and was additionally charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, police said.
In their weekly blotter, police said further investigation linked the pair to seven additional thefts from motor vehicles that occurred during the night as well as an attempted burglary to Trend Coffee and Tea House on Bloomfield Avenue. Police didn’t specify how the pair were linked to those other incidents. Police also say they entered vehicles on Orange Road, South Fullerton Avenue, Valley Road, The Crescent parking deck and Seymour Street.

Theft
Tuesday, Oct. 12 — Someone reported a bicycle was stolen from a rack in their garage on Bloomfield Avenue in the past two weeks. The bicycle was described as a foldable gray and orange “Tern” valued at $500.
Wednesday, Oct. 13 — Someone reported a blue Trek sport bike valued at $500 was stolen from the rear of their property on Walnut Street. It was reportedly left unsecured at the time of the theft.
Thursday, Oct. 14 — Someone reported his backpack was stolen from his work vehicle while it was parked on Woodland Avenue. The bag reportedly contained Apple Airpods valued at $100, a Louis Vuitton wallet valued at $250, a pair of work gloves, numerous credit and debit cards and $100 in cash.
Sunday, Oct. 17 — Residents reported that they were awoken by their garage door opening on Squirehill Road). They discovered the doors to both of their vehicles open. Both vehicles had been rummaged through. Two pairs of sunglasses and a garage door opener were stolen.
Suspicious Incident
Monday, Oct. 18 — A resident of The Fairway reported that while reviewing footage from her home surveillance system, she observed a black, midsize SUV park in front of her residence and she saw three males exit. All males were wearing hooded sweatshirts and dark clothing. The video shows the males attempt to enter the resident’s vehicle, however it was locked. The males then fled on foot out of camera view.
Aggravated Assault
Tuesday, Oct. 12 — Officers responded to the area of Church Street and South Park Street on a report of two males physically fighting. The officers’ preliminary investigation indicated the altercation was over food, and it began outside of The Salvation Army building. During the course of the altercation, one of the males took possession of a glass bottle and broke it. The male then used the bottle to strike the victim in the back of his neck, causing a deep laceration. The injured male was transported by ambulance to University Hospital in Newark for treatment and later released. A 74-year-old man from Montclair was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon (the bottle) and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
