A Kane County judge has denied a request for a temporary restraining order in a case filed by four employees from St. Charles Unit District 303 and Geneva Unit District 304 who are challenging COVID-19 vaccination and testing requirements, the Daily Herald reports.

OVERVIEW: U.S. Passes 700,000 Deaths; New Drug Cuts Worst COVID Effects; California Will Require Student Vaccination
The United States surpassed 700,000 coronavirus-related deaths on Friday, according to a Reuters tally, as officials roll out booster doses of vaccines to protect the elderly and people working in high-risk professions.
An experimental antiviral drug molnupiravir prevented half of COVID-19 infections that would have otherwise sent people to the hospital, according to a study released Friday, offering promise that the virus could soon be treated by a pill, the Associated Press and others report.
Just 15 of Africa’s 54 countries have reached the global target of fully vaccinating 10% of their population by the end of this month, the World Health Organization said.
Globally, there have been 233,136,147 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 4,771,408 deaths, reported to WHO. A total of 6,143,369,655 vaccine doses have been administered.

KANE COUNTY: 138 New Cases, No Deaths For 2nd Straight Day; No New School Outbreaks
Kane County recorded 138 new COVID-19 cases but no deaths for the second straight day.
Kane County recorded 625 cases and five deaths over the past week.
The totals since the pandemic began are 66,733 positive cases and 857 deaths of Kane county residents.
The county’s seven-day test positivity rate remains at 3.0%, the lowest since the summer months.
About 297,477 Kane County residents are fully vaccinated, accounting for 55.68% of the population.
STATE OF ILLINOIS: 18,735 New Cases, 236 Deaths in Past Week; State Death Toll Now Over 25,000
The state of Illinois has passed another grim milestone, passing 25,000 COVID-19 deaths.
Illinois Department of Public Health today reported 18,735 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease in Illinois, including 236 additional deaths since reporting last Friday, Sept. 24, 2021.
Since yesterday, Illinois recorded 3,356 new cases and 41 deaths related to the respiratory disease.
Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,630,864 cases, including 25,017 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years.
Since reporting on Friday, Sept. 24, 2021, laboratories have reported 842,141 specimens for a total of 32,034,910. Yesterday, IDPH reported 180,411 COVID-19 tests; the highest one-day total of COVID-19 tests since the beginning of the pandemic.
As of last night, 1,833 individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 447 patients were in the ICU and 236 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from Sept. 24-30 is 2.2%. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from Sept. 24-30 is 2.8%.
More than 81% of Illinois adults have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose and more than 64% of Illinois adults are fully vaccinated, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Of Illinois’ total population, almost 68% has received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose and 53% of Illinois’ total population is fully vaccinated.
A total of 14,571,537 vaccines have been administered in Illinois as of last midnight. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 22,754 doses. Since reporting on Friday, Sept. 24, 159,278 doses were reported administered in Illinois.
