Katy Christian Ministries announced this week that they will receive a grant for the second time from the Texas Veterans Commission to continue providing services for the Katy veteran community. This program provides critical resources for local veterans.
Katy Christian Ministries Receives Veteran's Assistance (FVA) Grant
For the second year the Katy-based nonprofit, Katy Christian Ministries (KCM,) has been chosen to receive the Fund for Veteran’s Assistance (FVA) Grant from the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC.)
This grant allows KCM to serve the Katy veteran community through their campaign, “Help-a-Hero.”
“The veterans of this country, and community, have given so much to us. They have allowed us our freedoms and sacrificed a great deal for it. Having the opportunity to serve them is an honor that I am beyond humbled by,” says Deysi Crespo, KCM Executive Director.
Grant Also Serves Dependents and Surviving Spouses
Previously the grant was limited to certain zip codes, but that is no longer the case. The FVA Grant will serve veteran throughout Harris, Fort Bend, and Waller Counties. Katy residents reside in all three of the counties the grant will serve.
The grant will also serve veteran dependents and their surviving spouses.
Thanks to this grant, KCM will extend some of their services to veterans in the Katy community.
Services Include:
-
Rent/Utilities Assistance
-
Transportation Assistance
-
Child Care Assistance
-
Various services through KCM Social Services Department
From July 2020 to March 2021, KCM assisted 78 Veterans, 9 Dependents, and 4 Surviving
Spouses.

To be eligible to receive benefits, veterans must bring a copy of their DD 214, verification of income/residence, and a photo ID. Other assorted documents may be needed in the absence of others.
