WHAT WE'RE WATCHING FOR
•The Hokies shooting the 3-point shot
Tech has made 14 3's per game so far this season, tops in the ACC. More than that, the team is shooting at a high clip, nearly 45% also the best mark in the league. In addition to Aisha Sheppard (14) and Cayla King (12), four other Hokies have made a shot from beyond the arc already, with five of those converting more than one.
At the other end of the floor, the Hokies have allowed just 11 3's and their opposition is shooting 21%.
Appalachian State has made 16 3's on the season – the same number that the Hokies hit in their last outing vs. George Washington.
•The battle on the glass
Tuesday night, Tech enjoyed a +29 advantage on the boards, thanks in part to Elizabeth Kitley's 12 rebounds. The Hokies average 43 rebounds and a +14 margin per night but the Mountaineers have also been adept at securing possession.
App State owns a +8.5 margin on the glass.
•Defending without fouling
We have seen foul trouble plague some of Tech's starters so far this season. App State's leading scorer Pre Stanley (22.5 ppg) gets to the free throw line often with 21 attempts already through two contests. And at 76%, that is not a situation that the Hokies will want to get into.
Through three games, Tech has attempted 35 free throws while allowing 51.
•A 59TH consecutive win at Cassell for the program
The Hokeis haven't lost a home non-conference game since December 4, 2014, a streak of 58 consecutive games. In Coach Brooks' tenure, he is 42-0 and his Hokies own an average margin of victory of 24.6 and have 14 wins of 30 or more points in home games against non-conference opposition.
