KALAMAZOO, MI -- You can make it a date night or bring the kids along for some holiday cheer in downtown Kalamazoo. While you’re here, grab takeout or eat outdoors at one of the many restaurants near Bronson Park.

The downtown park is lit up with an abundance of lights for the holiday season.

Here are five restaurants near Bronson Park offering takeout or outdoor dining.

1. Central City Tap House

This spot offers your favorites like burgers and pizza. A special through the cold months is spiked hot chocolate, which the adults can enjoy while walking under the lights on the Kalamazoo Mall. Be sure to keep the alcohol within the designated areas though, which doesn’t yet include Bronson Park. The restaurant, located at 359 S. Kalamazoo Mall, is open until 11:30 p.m.

2. Rustica

Rustica offers a high-end dining experience specializing in rustic European cuisine. This spot, located at 236 S. Kalamazoo Mall, has heated outdoor patio seating for a date night option under the holiday lights in downtown Kalamazoo. Takeout and outdoor seating is available Wednesday through Sunday until 7:30 p.m. and reservations for patio seating can be made online.

3. Taco Bob’s

Looking for a kid-friendly takeout option? Try Taco Bob’s downtown location at 248 S. Kalamazoo Mall. Favorites like the Funny Taco can be eaten on the go while you stroll by lighted trees, the beloved candy canes and other holiday decorations in Bronson Park. The restaurant is open for takeout and outdoor seating from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturdays.

Adults can also enjoy alcohol to-go from Taco Bob’s.

4. Theo and Stacy’s Downtown

This family-owned restaurant offers curb-side and carry-out from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The menu features classic Greek and American cuisine and daily specials. The restaurant, located at 234 W. Michigan Ave., is only a short walk from Bronson Park.

5. Old Burdick’s Bar and Grill

Old Burdick’s is a sports bar in downtown Kalamazoo offering a large selection of beer on tap along with other menu favorites. The restaurant is open for outdoor patio seating or takeout.

The bar and grill is also home to Santa Claus this year, who is available for outdoor visits during the holiday season. Take a photo with Santa before walking under the lights on the Kalamazoo Mall toward Bronson Park where you’ll find even more holiday cheer.
