FLINT TOWNSHIP, MI -- After more than a quarter of a century of serving food to the Flint-area community, Pesto’s “Food With a Flare” has built a loyal customer base that continues its support the business through COVID-19.
Pesto’s, located at 5275 Miller Road in Flint Township, is currently only offering take out, local delivery and curbside pickup due to state restrictions.
Despite the move, Rich Redmer, owner of Pesto’s for 26 years, said his customers have remained loyal.

“Our customers have stayed with us. We’re quite fortunate. They’ve pivoted to take out,” he said. “I could see it happening the week before they closed us down, they pivoted more to the curbside. People are working to take care of themselves and that’s a good thing. They don’t want to be exposed and the curbside is the way to go. We’re quite thankful.”
Since COVID-19, Pesto’s has been remodeled including new floors, ceilings, walls, artwork and furnishings. The eatery also has a new LED light that purifies the air.
The specials of the day have been very popular throughout the year, Redmer said. Some popular menu options include homemade soups, prepackaged desserts and the make-your-own pasta option.
The restaurant offers a large menu, with many gluten friendly options.
Gluten friendly options were added to the menu to accommodate for food allergies or provide options for employees or customers with Celiac disease, an immune disease in which people can’t eat gluten because it will damage their small intestine.
The customers and community that supports Pesto’s is the best part about running the business, Redmer said.
“I think we have such a diverse, loyal customer base and to watch them and the food change over the years has been really nice to see,” Redmer said.

Hours of operation: 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday.
