It appears that Tua Tagovailoa will be back behind center for Miami.

The Dolphins quarterback is expected to be back in as the starter today, assuming all goes well in warmups, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

Tagovailoa has since been declared active by the team.

In anticipation of being back in the lineup, Tagovailoa took most of the first-team reps this week.

Tagovailoa suffered the thumb injury to his throwing hand in practice on Nov. 25 and missed last week's game against the New York Jets. Ryan Fitzpatrick got the start and led Miami to the 20-3 win.

The Dolphins are 3-1 in Tagovailoa's four starts. The rookie out of Alabama has passed for 602 yards and six touchdowns this season.

Running back Myles Gaskin is also active today for Miami. His first game back after spending time on injured reserve with a knee injury.

Miami (7-4) plays host to the Cincinnati Bengals (2-8-1) at 1 p.m. ET.

Other injury news we are keeping an eye on ahead of Sunday's Week 13 games:

  • Atlanta Falcons wideout Julio Jones, still dealing with a hamstring injury, is expected to play today against the New Orleans Saints, a source tells Rapoport. Jones has since been declared active along with running back Todd Gurley (knee).
  • Chicago Bears wide receiver Allen Robinson, listed as questionable with a knee injury, is expected to play against the Detroit Lions. Quarterback Nick Foles (hip) is questionable, but he's expected to be the backup, per Rapoport. Both Robinson and Foles are officially active, as well as linebacker Khalil Mack (knee), WR Darnell Mooney (knee), guard Germain Ifedi (calf), tackle Charles Leno Jr. (toe) and defensive tackle Akiem Hicks (hamstring).
  • Denver Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay is expected to play despite a knee injury and the same goes for wide receiver Jerry Jeudy (ankle) against the Kansas City Chiefs, Rapoport reports.
  • Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, dealing with the flu (not COVID-19), was feeling much better late Saturday than he did all week, per Rapoport. The team is hopeful he can play today, but they want to see how he feels when he arrives at the stadium.
  • New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton (abdomen) is listed as questionable, but a source tells Rapoport he took nearly all of the first-team reps this week and is expected to play today against the Los Angeles Chargers.
  • New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees (ribs) is eligible to return from injured reserve but is more likely to return to the starting lineup in Week 15 against the Chiefs.
  • The Pittsburgh Steelers expect quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, listed as questionable with a knee injury, to start against Washington, Rapoport reported.
  • Seattle Seahawks running back Carlos Hyde is listed as questionable with a toe injury, but head coach Pete Carroll said on Friday that Hyde is good to go.
  • The Cincinnati Bengals placed defensive end Amani Bledsoe on the reserve/COVID-19 list and elevated defensive tackle Kahlil McKenzie from the practice squad to the active roster. Bledsoe tested positive, Rapoport reported.
  • New York Jets tackle George Fant (knee, ankle) and guard Pat Elflein (shoulder) -- both listed as questionable -- are officially active vs. the Raiders.
  • Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Isaiah Johnson (groin) is officially inactive after being listed as questionable. CB Trayvon Mullen (ankle, calf) and defensive tackle Maurice Hurst (illness) are active.
  • Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift (concussion) is officially inactive vs. the Bears after being downgraded to doubtful on Saturday. While quarterback Matthew Stafford (right thumb) is active, defensive end Austin Bryant (thigh) is inactive.
  • Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons (knee) and guard Rodger Saffold (ankle) are officially active vs. the Browns after being listed as questionable.
  • Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Chris Conley (hip), tackle Jawaan Taylor (knee) and safety Jarrod Wilson (shoulder) are all active vs. the Vikings.
  • Houston Texans running back David Johnson is officially active for the first time in four weeks. Johnson was placed on injured reserve with a concussion. Rookie defensive tackle Ross Blacklock is also active after being listed as questionable with an illness.
