ACCN Year One Highlights


• One of the league’s most significant historical accomplishments came on August 22, 2019 with the launch of ACC Network (ACCN), a 24/7 national network dedicated to ACC sports and league-wide original programming. Initially announced in July 2016, the launch was the culmination of years of planning by ACC Commissioner John Swofford, league administrators and ESPN officials.
 
• ACCN includes state-of-the-art campus studios at all 15 institutions.
 
• Among the many benefits of ACCN are increased revenue distribution for league institutions, employment opportunities for students, and promotion and coverage of Olympic Sports, including an enormous increase in programming for women’s athletics.
 
• ACCN was nominated for three Sports Video Group awards and one Sports Emmy in its inaugural season. ACCN also won a gold medal for “Best Animation” at the New York Festivals TV & Film Awards.
 
Reach
• ACCN has extensive reach and is available to households throughout the ACC footprint and nationally through a multitude of traditional and streaming pay TV providers. All fans within the footprint and nationally have the ability to access the network. 
 
• ACCN is available to nearly 70 million households.
 
• Carriage agreements are in place with nearly every major provider including: AT&T U-Verse, AT&T TV NOW, Cox, DIRECTV, DISH Network, fuboTV, Google Fiber, Hulu Live TV, Optimum, Sling TV, Spectrum TV, Suddenlink, TVision, Verizon Fios, YouTube TV, members of the NCTC, NRTC, Vidgo and Vivicast, among others.
 
• ACCN provides coverage of more than 450 exclusive ACC events annually across the ACC’s 27 sponsored sports. Games/matches featured on the network extend across regular season and ACC Championships.
 
• Together, ACCN and its digital platform, ACC Network Extra (ACCNX), featured more than 1,350 ACC events in its first year.
 
Original Programming
• ACCN is committed to original storytelling and access programming – two hallmarks of the network and showcased through a multitude of documentaries and all-access series. Examples from Year 1 include: The Class That Saved Coach K, Greatest Ever: 2018 Clemson Tigers,Bowden DynastyChampions Coaches ConversationsUnbelievable: Virginia’s Improbable Path to a Title, ACC Traditions, 1186 To Omaha: 2015 Virginia Baseball, All Access with Carolina Basketball, 3-Day Weekend: Virginia Tech and All Access The ACC Life.  
 
• ACCN received unprecedented access to high profile programs including North Carolina men’s basketball, Notre Dame women’s basketball and Miami women’s basketball.
 
Live event coverage
Football
• Last fall, ACCN televised 41 regular-season football games and had its franchise football studio show, The Huddle, at the inaugural ACCN game featuring defending national champion Clemson versus Georgia Tech, Notre Dame at Duke and the ACC Football Championship Game. ACCN studio programming - Packer and Durham, The Huddle and All ACC were also on hand at the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl and the National Championship Game at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.
 
Basketball
• ACCN exclusively aired 110 regular-season men’s basketball games in its debut season, including 68 conference matchups. ACCN also exclusively carried the first round of the 2020 New York Life ACC Tournament. 
 
• ACCN aired 60 regular-season women’s basketball games, including 42 conference matchups, throughout the 2019-20 season,representing a 46-game increase in the number of ACC women’s basketball events available on ESPN’s linear networks over last year.Additionally, 140 more games were available on ACCNX. Thursday nights featured doubleheaders and dedicated women’s basketball studio programming.
 
• ACCN had live studio sets at the conference’s basketball media days -  ACC Women’s Basketball Tipoff and Operation Basketball, as well as the 2020 ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament and New York Life ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament delivering surrounding coverage of those events. 
 
Women’s Sports
• ACCN is committed to women’s sports, delivering expansive coverage of field hockey, women’s soccer and volleyball throughout the fall, women’s basketball throughout the fall and winter, and softball and women’s lacrosse throughout the spring. Additionally, cross country, swimming and diving, tennis and golf enjoy championship coverage on the network.
 
• ACCN carried 30 regular-season women’s soccer games, 20 volleyball games and 12 field hockey matches during the fall sports season, while ACCNX carried 168 volleyball matches, 108 women’s soccer games and 42 field hockey matches throughout the regular season. ACCNX also aired 16 NCAA women’s soccer tournament games.
 
• Field hockey saw its first-ever linear broadcast of the sport this season – exclusively on ACCN. Overall, 18 field hockey matches were televised on ACCN, including all three rounds of the ACC Field Hockey Championship.
 
• The ACC’s women’s sports programs are regularly featured every day on Packer and Durham and All ACC, and women’s sports highlights were shown during the two-hour The Huddle on Friday nights as well as All ACCfollowing a full day of football. Thursday nights throughout conference basketball season was “Ladies Night” featuring halftime and between-game coverage of an ACC women’s basketball doubleheader as well as a full recap of the day’s action on All ACC following the second game.
 
Olympic Sports
• ACC Network delivers the most national linear coverage for the league’s Olympic sport programs (field hockey, m/w soccer, wrestling, m/w lacrosse, softball and baseball). ACCN provided championship coverage for field hockey, m/w soccer and wrestling in its first year.
 
• ACC wrestling enjoyed a dedicated night of programming – Friday Night Duals – highlighted by five straight weeks of conference matches and the finals of the ACC Wrestling Championship exclusively on ACCN. It marked the first time the ACC Wrestling Championship was featured on a linear network.
 
Packer and Durham/Studio Shows
• Each weekday morning from 7-10 a.m.Packer and Durham delivers news and commentary from around the ACC’s 15 institutions.
 
• Packer and Durham is a tremendous service to ACC fans of all sports.  Nearly every ACC sport program has been featured on Packer and Durham since the show debuted. Packer and Durham was onsite for key ACC events, including the first ACC football and basketball games on ACCN, basketball media days, the ACC Football Championship Game and the ACC men’s and women’s basketball tournaments. 
 
• Along with Packer and Durham, ACCN’s exclusive studio show lineup in its first year included All ACCThe HuddleNothing But Netand Bald Men on Campus.
 
Technology
• Select ACC men’s and women’s soccer telecasts on ACCN featured ESPN’s exclusive “Keeper Cam” goal post camera system currently used on ESPN’s Major League Soccer productions. The ACC is the first and only collegiate conference to deploy the camera system.
 
• ACCN utilized the Omnicam aerial camera each week during football games on the network. ACCN was also the first to use it during men’s basketball games this season. 
 
• New York Life and GEICO are founding partners of ACCN. New York Life remains the official life insurance company of the ACC and continues as the exclusive title sponsor of the ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament which airs across ESPN and ACCN.
 
• In addition to the two founding sponsors, New York Life and GEICO, the ACC and ACCN also have official sponsorships with Bojangles’, Food Lion and Gatorade.
 
• The ACC and ACC Network staffs partnered to create a new FanFest event in Charlotte surrounding the 2019 ACC Football Championship Game. The event moved into the Charlotte Convention Center for the first time and attracted fans from participating teams, as well as other ACC fans and those from the local Charlotte community. New exhibits and interactive opportunities included a 50-yard turf field, 40-yard dash, field goal kicking area, pep rally featuring band and cheer squads from both Clemson and Virginia, ACC Network talent appearances and live ACC Network show production. Attendance for this year’s FanFest approached 10,000 and received a 96% satisfaction rate with three of every four attendees giving the event the maximum “5 stars”. Similar FanFest events will be created for the ACC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments.
