Dog Is My CoPilot, Petco Love and local shelters partner to airlift 50 dogs from Texas - Buckrail

JACKSON, Wyo. — Nearly 50 dogs and cats will be airlifted from Dallas-Fort Worth to shelters in Colorado, Utah, Idaho and Wyoming on Saturday June 5.

The efforts are made possible through partnerships between national nonprofit Petco Love, Dog Is My CoPilot and local shelters including PAWS of Jackson Hole, Aska’s Animal Foundation of Victor and Teton Valley Community Animal Shelter.

The flight will take place on Saturday, June 5, arriving at the Driggs Reed Memorial Airport at 2 p.m. Seven dogs will arrive on this flight to local shelter partners.

Dog is My CoPilot works to move at-risk animals to areas with higher adoption demand, providing animals with more opportunities to be adopted rather than euthanized.

The animals are coming from six shelters in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

According to the press release from Dog Is My CoPilot, shelters across the country are beginning to normalize to pre-pandemic levels and are opening to the public as COVID-19 restrictions begin to ease.

Petco Love recently made a $750,000 grant investment to further support Dog is My CoPilot.

“As part of Petco Love’s commitment to creating a future in which no pet faces preventable euthanasia, we’re proud to invest in Dog is My CoPilot’s lifesaving work and come together with shelters across the country to help pets in need get an increased chance at adoption,” said Susanne Kogut, President of Petco Love.

The Animal Adoption Center of Jackson welcomes animals on a monthly basis through a partnership with Dog Is My CoPilot.
