Hospital one of five in Vermont included in Anthem’s network of providers serving Granite State consumers in the individual health insurance marketplace

Vermont Business Magazine With a shared goal of providing greater access to care in southwestern New Hampshire, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in New Hampshire and Brattleboro Memorial Hospital announced the hospital has joined Anthem’s Pathway Network of health care providers serving consumers in the individual health insurance marketplace as of today, June 1.

“We’re excited to welcome Brattleboro Memorial Hospital into our comprehensive Pathway Network and provide our consumers in southwestern New Hampshire access to new healthcare options,” said Lisa Guertin, president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in New Hampshire. “The ongoing Special Enrollment Period was created to allow people to find coverage during the pandemic, and with expanded subsidies available for many individuals buying insurance through the exchange, many plans are more affordable than ever. Access to quality, affordable healthcare is essential, so it is important people look into the options available to them.”

The healthcare.gov Special Enrollment Period for Affordable Care Act plans runs through Aug. 15. Those who previously did not qualify for federal subsidies should re-examine their options because of the expanded subsidies that are now available.

“BMH is pleased to join the Anthem Pathway network,” noted Andre Bissonnette, BMH Chief Financial Officer. “We look forward to having our hospital included in this network, enabling coverage to be expanded for patients insured via the Marketplace Exchange. Caring for a community with diverse health needs, this addition will greater assist our patients in finding better coverage for their evolving health needs and accessing the exceptional care we provide for our local community.”

Anthem’s Pathway Network includes 24 of the 26 hospitals in all 10 New Hampshire counties, plus five hospitals located in Vermont counties bordering New Hampshire and key hospitals in Maine and Massachusetts. The statewide network also includes approximately 95 percent of New Hampshire’s primary care providers and specialists, 94 percent of ambulatory surgical centers, and 98 percent of ancillary providers.

Anthem was the only carrier in New Hampshire to offer individual health plans on the state’s health insurance marketplace when it opened in 2014 and has continued to offer plans every year, providing consumers with access to care across the entire state.
