Over 13 percent of registered local voters have already turned their ballots in for the November General Election.
Douglas County Clerk Daniel Loomis told News Radio 1240 KQEN that voters have been very active for the early days of the election. The number of returned ballots is about 5 percent ahead of the participation rates for the same point in the 2012 and 2016 Presidential elections.
Loomis said elections staff have handled 53 percent more ballots than at the same point in the last Presidential election, due to the increased number of registered voters. Of ballots received, only about 12.5 percent have arrived via the U.S. Postal Service.
Ballots are due back by Tuesday November 3rd at 8:00 p.m. They can be mailed in, taken to the Clerk’s Office or placed in one of several drop boxes located around the county.
